I’m back! Before I proceed with this work, I just want to recapitulate about what I wrote yesterday.
“A learner must always remember that learning is a thinking process in which skills and knowledge, attitudes and habits, ideals and virtues are sent by a medium, then the learner acquires what has been communicated and then preserves it and finally utilizes it when needed. Definitely it is expected that it will result into the progressive adaptation and modification of human behavior.”Got that?
Now, lets continue, I will talk about the stages of learning. Are you ready now? Then if you are, let’s go.
Learning, based on my own experience has 5 stages.
First, the information is communicated in various forms to the learner. It could be a lecture type of discussion, could be a home work, could be in a form of a presentation and all other sorts.
Second, the learner acquires the what, the who, the where, the when, the why and the how about a specific topic.
Third, the information acquired must be thoroughly processed with the purpose of identifying and pinpointing its essence or significance. At this very specific phase, the learner will look into the value of the information he has acquired. He may ask the questions, “why am I going to study this?” “How can this information help me?” Will this knowledge help and guide me in the future and so on. In other words, the learner will look deep about the benefit he could get from information being studied.
Fourth, since the learner already knows the importance of the information and it will benefit him, he must look into ways and measures to preserve the information, more specifically to have it retained. In this particular stage, the learner must employ the laws of learning. He may specifically employ the law of practice, the law of association, and the law of readiness. The purpose of course is to ensure that the knowledge acquired stay and remain intact if not deep rooted in his memory.
Finally, the fifth stage is the application stage. What has been learned is utilized by the learner in making accurate judgments and precise decisions.
To sum it up, learning undergoes five stages. First, the information is shared in various approaches. Second, the learner acquires the information. Third, the learner must look into the importance of the information gained. Fourth, he will employ techniques to make sure that it will be retained and finally, he will render precise decision and accurate judgment.
