Do they really want honest improvement or just being driven by envy?

I just started blogging since September 5, 2007. At first, I really wanted to post articles which are really my original composition. So I actually wrote some but later I also posted some other authors’ works. I found most of these articles really interesting and helpful especially in Web Development. Thinking that there is nothing wrong with posting these articles to my blogsite as along as sources will be given proper credit, you will find some of the contents in my blogsite coming from other’s work.

I am not actually a prolific writer, my expertise is on computers but it is obvious that I do have the ability to write if I really wanted to. In fact, even though I got some of my articles from other sources, I do modify most of the paragraphs before posting them. I just make sure that references or sources will be properly included.

I have been the webmaster of psu.edu.ph for five years. I am very thankful that even though my services to the website is purely charity, I do learned a lot and improved my web development skills, and the best thing from it is that the website gives the university the impression that it can always go with the trend especially in the field of Information Technology.

Recently, there are some claiming alumni of the university who posted some comments in the PSU forum. I used the term “claiming” because they never used their real names in their account profile and they are hiding themselves behind fictitious name and email address. One of them actually used the email address beegas80@yahoo.com which is obviously impossible because it is the email address of the person being given negative comments in that particular post. I am actually glad to read comments and suggestions coming from alumni members especially if you can see that their posts are honest and tactful. You can actually feel if their motive is really for the betterment of the university as reflected by the values being manifested in their wordings and manner of writing. But sad to say, some of these claiming alumni members recklessly post their comments and without respect ridicules whoever they want in a manner that does not actually reflects the VALUES that an alumni of PSU must manifest. They sees themselves as if they are very outstanding where in fact, they themselves with what they are manifesting in their comments are big shame for the university.

Without justice, they always watch out for shortcomings, but most of the time, they always forgot to highlight the bigger picture of what is good being done. The illustration of the plain white paper and a dot proves to be always true. They always see the dot instead of the whole paper itself. They even make their own conclusions and theories without knowing the truth behind the issue.

I appreciated the comments of Kickass (with registered name Jonathan Aquino) in the PSU forum. He pointed out clearly what he thinks is wrong but you can still feel the professionalism and respect in his words. This is a good example of a true alumnus of our university manifesting a learned person (in terms of knowledge and in terms of values).

On the other hand, I hope that comments will not always be on the negative side, it would be better if alumni members like him will also post positive comments so people will see that the intention is really up-building and constructive.

Darkjustice, a claiming alumni member hiding behind a fictitious name, is good example of an uneducated person. He claims to be a graduate of PSU but he does not reflect the core values of a true PSUian. He throws word without thinking carefully and made a lot of false accusations. He seems to be bold but actually uses the shield of being anonymous to tactlessly and maliciously destroy other people. He claims that he is there wanting for the betterment of the website but in fact, his post itself is a grave degradation and defamation to the university’s reputation considering that he claims to be an alumni member. I do not know what actually gave him the idea that because I just posted some articles which are not mine in my blogsite, I am considered as somewhat incompetent faculty of the university. You see how fast you judge people Darkjustice! How about you? What are your contributions to the university? Why not post the good things you have done for PSU instead of insulting other people? Why not give your true identity if you are really a true-blooded PSUian?

Another claiming alumni member hiding behind the name Simpleton posted his comments in the PSU forum. At first, I thought he is one of the Kickass type but later I found him posting something in the PSU shoutpage. It seems that this person is trying to start a fire out of a small problem. His intention is now getting questionable. He also clearly pointed out that having a blogsite with some articles posted coming from other author makes someone a degraded faculty of the university. He said it is an indication of degraded faculty members teaching in the university. Where in the world did you get that idea Simpleton? Again you are very fast in giving away judgment to other people you don’t even personally know. It doesn’t mean that if someone is not very good in writing articles then he will be considered degraded. Maybe you just forgot to look into what is his expertise and in what field he is good into. How about you? Are you a prolific writer? If you are really good then show me your contributions to the university? Maybe in this way you will be an inspiration to others to make something worth up-building for the university. Simpleton also makes a lot of comments regarding the administration of the website as if he knows very well the protocols being followed. He even accused the webmaster of being uncaring just because of some information or resources missing in some campus web pages. After all that is being done in the PSU website, you still accused the webmaster as someone uncaring, why not open your eyes widely enough to see what has been done as compared to what was done before. You always see one bad thing in a person and ignore ten good things in him. You are someone not worthy of being proud of for PSU.

Because of these, one can’t help but ask “Do they really want honest improvement or just being driven by envy?”
